There are some sure signs we are approaching fall. The kids go back to school, we notice the days getting shorter and maybe the heat comes on "just to take the chill off." One sign many people look for each year is the announcement of the Maritime Fall Fair dates.
From Oct. 10 to 19, the big show is back at Exhibition Park in Halifax. Organizers are promising eight great days of family fun for all ages.
This year all the favourites are back.
From the midway rides and games to all the action of the heavy and light horse competition it's all back for fans of the MFF. You can expect to be treated to the fan favourite beef and cattle shows as well as dog and goat shows too.
Put on the fun
For the kids this year organizers have put on the fun with the Hatfield Farms Fun Zone, the Kevin Beanland Band, and Moby the Recycle Robot. More than 1,500 students and teachers are due in to get a hands-on lesson on agriculture in this province.
In the main show ring the Kubota Cup is back. Riders from all over compete to take home the Eastern Division title and the right to continue on the hunt for the Kubota Cup with a place in the national finals. The MFF is just one stop on a six-stop qualifier circuit.
New to the fair this year is the Maritime Fall Fair Professional Rodeo produced by the folks at Rawhide Rodeo. Established in 1987 in Leicester, N.Y., by professional saddle bronco rider, Sam Swearingen, the company presents high quality rodeo shows across North America. There's no need to head out west for the Calgary Stampede.
Tickets to this year's edition of the Maritime Fall Fair are available online at www.ticket atlantic.com, you can charge by phone at 451-1221 or you can pick up your tickets in person at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office in the Metro Centre, any participating Atlantic Superstore or at the door.
