Perhaps one of the most talked about additions to Dartmouth Crossing will be opening early this spring.
"Yes, Costco will be opening its doors in March, but we also have much more on the horizon," says general manager Ann-Louise McKinnon.
In the past few months Dartmouth Crossing has seen a mix of retail outlets and restaurants open in this massive development that will soon surpass the Bayers Lake shopping district with nearly 1.5 million square feet of retail, dining and entertainment space.
The past few months have seen the opening of the Second Cup, Sam's Seafood Express, The Source by Circuit City, Beaner's Hair Cuts for Kids, Princess Nails and Alberto Lorenzo Decor.
McKinnon said the next few months will prove to be even more exciting as Dartmouth Crossing moves forward once again.
"We are welcoming the CIBC, Henry's Cameras, Moxie's Classic Grill, SellOffVacations.com, Starbucks, Subway, Wok Box and the opening in May of Hampton Inn & Suites," she said.
This upcoming year will also see the completion of The Shops north of the brook. McKinnon said once they are opened it will complete the full Main Street ambience and the bridge will connect the two sides of the street development.
Rain water that falls on the roofs of the buildings in The Shops area will be channeled through wetlands and eventually into Grassy Brook, said McKinnon.
And those interested in skating will soon be able to use the outdoor rink and an amphitheater will open in the summer, providing space for concerts and fundraising events.
Planning is now underway to build about 1,800 condominiums and townhouses at Dartmouth Crossing. If all goes according to plan, these units will be ready for 2010.
"With the walking and biking trails nearing completion this will give residents the chance to add recreation to the list of things that Dartmouth Crossing will be known for," said McKinnon.
