The 2004 East Coast Music Award winning Burke family will be launching their third CD as a fundraiser for Knox United Church in Lower Sackville on Nov. 8.
The Burkes are a group of 10 siblings who grew up together in New Waterford, Cape Breton. Members Sharon Randles and her sister Dianne Hearn live in Sackville and Hammonds Plains.
The Burkes' latest CD offering is called The Reason We Sing. Randles said it features inspirational music including songs like The River, Through it All and But For Your Grace/Amazing Grace. It also includes three original songs written by her brother Pius Burke.
"The comments that we are getting on the originals are wonderful," said Randles. "We are really proud of this CD."
The family took home the 2004 Gospel Recording of the Year ECMA for their CD A Burke Family Christmas.
Tickets for the Nov. 8 show at Knox United Church on Sackville Drive are available at the church and by calling Randles at 865-5187 or Dianne Hearn at 835-6438.
Tickets will also be sold at the door, and Burke family CDs will be sold onsite.
The show starts at 7 p.m. and will also include opening act Innapinch.
