An Eastern Passage seniors' club that started earlier this year is looking to increase its membership.
"We have anywhere from 25 to 38 people. We're looking for 50," said Sandra Foxall, recorder for the club.
The group was organized by Peter Gill and began meeting on Jan. 27 at the Eastern Passage and Cow Bay Lions Club on Hornes Road.
"It started as a get-together, socialization and games for seniors to do, 50 and over, and we've been going steady and strong since then," said Foxall.
The group meets every Wednesday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
"We conduct it like a meeting, we have our treasurers report, our secretary's report then we go in and sometimes we play bingo, play pool, darts, cards ... and we have people bringing sandwiches and dessert, tea, coffee and water. It's just a general seniors socialization."
Fee is $2. They also have a 50-50 draw. Half for the club, and half to the winner. Bingo is donated prizes.
They set up a motto for the club: "To provide seniors with an opportunity to socialize in comfortable surroundings in an affordable, fun, informative and interesting manner."
