BEDFORD - The provincial government announced last week that it would contribute $2 million in funding for the Bedford four-pad arena complex.
The official ground breaking for the arena, located on Gary Martin Drive just off the Hammonds Plains Road, took place last month.
Municipal officials had initially hoped the $39 million project would be cost-shared by all three levels of government. The federal government hasn't committed any funding to the project.
The $2 million from the province comes from the Department of Health Promotion and Protection's Building Facilities Infrastructure Together (B-FIT) program.
The 4-pad arena facility is scheduled to open by the fall of 2010.-
