To the Editor:
On Nov. 1, I had the opportunity to view the revised plan for the development of the former YMCA property on Lake Banook by United Gulf Developments.
This redesigned project conforms to the HRM Regional Plan to increase urban growth and better use existing infrastructure while protecting the environment.
Developers have enough difficulty with the maze of bureaucracy built up in our regional government without having to deal with the NIMBY factor. Individuals who decided to relocate to our urban core should never presume that the surrounding areas will remain as pristine as they were upon purchase.
Development must occur, change must happen, our economy runs on taxes and unless those now enjoying certain view planes are prepared to have a tenfold increase in taxes, they should consider alternatives, such as development or personal relocation.
Everyone involved in this process should provide constructive criticism as necessary and work with the developer to ensure that our community participates in the growth of this region.
