March celebrates Nutrition Month, a Canada-wide campaign brought to you by Dietitians of Canada to emphasize food and nutrition as part of a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.
It is also a time to recognize the contributions that about 450 professional dietitians and nutritionists across Nova Scotia make to our communities and health each day.
Food plays an important role in our lives - a role that is bigger than calories, vitamins, and minerals.
Healthy food choices not only help prevent chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, but also connect us with our families, friends, and environment through culture, heritage, and spiritual self. Nutritious food is vital for our health and well being.
Spotlight on nutrition
This month, professional dietitians and nutritionists across Nova Scotia will be putting the "Spotlight on Food and Nutrition" in their workplaces and communities.
This is a wonderful opportunity for Nova Scotians to learn more about making healthy food choices and the role that nutrition plays in our daily lives.
