Reader's Forum - To the editor:
While I am a strong advocate for a new high school in my community, I am not a strong advocate for having one at the expense of others.
I attended several consultation meetings and was quite shocked to see communities pitted against communities as they fought for the "scraps." While attending a Halifax meeting, a man, with support, verbally attacked Eastern Passage's need for a school claiming "we did not deserve one."
I brought that displaced aggression back to the community via our community website www.easternpassage.ca and it now seems that such ignorance is what is fueling the animosity against Cole Harbour.
Cole Harbour is not trying to stop our hopes, they are trying to keep their hopes alive! Those parents have the same rights as the parents of this community: the right to fight for their kids!
To accuse a community who has enjoyed a school that has unique and diverse needs and resources as being so conniving as to thwart this community's hopes is a sad and pathetic reflection of Eastern Passage and I wish those who think along the same lines would keep their ignorance to themselves, quietly.

High school shouldn't be at the expense of other students
