Reader's Forum - To the editor:
On a previous suggestion a few years ago by the then school board, the closing of Alderney School was taken off the table as a result of the intervention of the local MLA and with the support of the governing John Hamm Tories and Education Minister Jane Purves.
What has changed from those sound arguments that now places this issue back on the table and what local political action can we expect that will maintain the integrity and need for this vital community school?
The Halifax Regional Plan calls for urban growth and expansion of our population. Why then remove the one significant factor that encourages young families to move into the homes in this area that will be vacated by seniors over the next number of years? We reap what we sow, lets see what comes out of this discussion this time.
