To the editor,

Please stop parking all over the road when visiting Rainbow Haven Beach!

The parking lots at Rainbow Haven Beach Provincial Park can hold several hundred cars, but a busy sunny day can draw a thousand visitors, or more.

If the beach becomes too full, the park staff will close and lock the gate at the entrance.

Reader's Forum - To the editor,

Please stop parking all over the road when visiting Rainbow Haven Beach!

The parking lots at Rainbow Haven Beach Provincial Park can hold several hundred cars, but a busy sunny day can draw a thousand visitors, or more.

If the beach becomes too full, the park staff will close and lock the gate at the entrance.

This means the park is closed, it is not an OK for people to use the main road as a parking lot.

If you go to a theatre and the movie is sold out, would you go sit in the isle? Of course not, so why do people feel the need to park all along Cow Bay Road and Rainbow Haven Drive?

Most of the residents in the area are elderly, I would hate to think of what would happen if they needed a fire truck or ambulance and the roadside was obscured by traffic in front of their home.

Nothing is more frustrating then coming home from work and stopping to get the mail when there are cars blocking the mailbox, or worse, getting to your driveway only to find it blocked by illegally parked cars.

It makes it very dangerous and difficult to drive.

If you park in front of a mailbox, a driveway, a no parking sign or with your tires touching the pavement you will get a ticket, but this doesn't seem to be stopping people. If you want to come to the beach on a hot summer day, please do so by noon, or you will not get a parking spot, and the street is not a good idea.
