Here is yet another example of where years ago the local community school would have made accommodations for this group (Special Needs Dance in Need of a New Home, The Weekly News, Aug. 29).
What a shame that progress in education has become so advanced that it is unable to address the special needs of these very special people.
With the insurance and liability issues, the unions, security of the buildings, access for disabled and heaven knows how many other obstacles what has happened to basic call that we are our brother's keeper.
Perhaps there are legitimate reasons for the church to review its position, but at least give the families the opportunity to discuss them and perhaps resolve them to everyone's satisfaction
Shame on a church that preaches good will yet turns its back on those most in need of love and support. We wonder why young people have turned away from organized religion, here is a good reason why.
