According to the Report completed by the University of Guelph, the price of food is expected to increase this year. While all prices are expected to increase, meats and eggs are expected to have the highest increase of 3-6.5 % approx. The report is also stating that it is expected that approx. 38% of what we purchase will be thrown out!!  That is amazing and I have to say probably accurate. I know in our family we have been trying to waste less food for the past year. It isn’t easy, we are used to making far more for suppers etc… and end up with leftovers that eventually get thrown out. We were also purchasing more fresh fruit and veggies than what we actually using. As I mentioned above we have been working on cutting back and purchasing smaller amounts of the fresh items. We drive by the store on the way home from work anyway and are just replenishing what we need every 3-4 days now. We have noticed a big difference and are wasting less but still have work to do in this (who doesn’t lol). If we can cut our waste down, then the price increase won’t affect us at all, as a matter of fact with reducing the waste we will reduce our overall costs in food by a substantial amount.
