The following is a statement issued today, Feb. 12, by Auditor General Jacques Lapointe.

In the days following the issuance of my February Report, my office has received additional information concerning some of the transactions identified in my report related to MLA expense claims. This led us to conduct some preliminary fact-finding. As a result, I have decided to conduct an investigation into certain transactions.

I will report on my findings to the Speaker, in due course.

Meanwhile, I cannot discuss the specifics of the investigation, nor provide information about the conduct of the investigation, or the individual members involved, until such time as the investigation has been completed.
