Dear Halifax - A New Year project launched

Over the course of the 2012-13 holiday season the Dear Halifax project began. The initiative is focused on drawing out what people “wish” for the future of the city.   Throughout the course of the project citizens, students, musicians, business owners and elected officials shared their thoughts on the New Year and beyond in Halifax.

These interviews will be uploaded starting New Years day 2013.  A preview video montage is currently posted to the Dear Halifax Facebook page, which can be found by searching ‘Dear Halifax’ under pages on Facebook. The project aims to put a spotlight on the vision Haligonians have for the municipality. Whether that wish centre's on development or a favorite sports team winning a championship, the “wishes” of city residents vary from commerce to education, green-space, crime prevention and employment.

Dear Halifax was created to be a vehicle for people to share in one place their thoughts, photos, videos or even songs on how they would like to see the city in 2013 and onward. The page is expected to be open for the calendar year of 2013 with a retrospective or recap video to be filmed during the same period next year.

I'm sure that these interviews were probably sanitized or edited to make sure nothing negative was said about the way things are run here.

Great site Halifax has always been a naval and ship building city, the city ans indeed atlantic canada was thrown a life-line with the announcement of the ship building project. It is very important to get this project started know . Halifax was in a similar position during the 2nd world war when a great nova scotian Angus L. Macdonald initiatedan unpresedented campaign that made Canada one of the most productve manufacturing and ship building countries in the world .so we know we can do it , we have done it before , It is time to start cutting plate and even expand on the current plan to include building a pair of aircraft carriers . We are known as peace keepers and provide humanitarian services through United Nations missions , Two aircraft carriers with ice-breaking capabilities would provide total on-board support for missions and support for our three coasts . With the future deveopement of our north a full support carrier could possibly be a public private partnership with multi national cororations that will be operating within our northern boundaries . Instead of financing the f-35s perhaps a shorter range supply and rescue helicopter and aircraft would serve this country better
