At the end of this month, Sackville High School's gymnasium will become a creepy place filled with suspense and mystery as students take to the stage for the musical Little Shop of Horrors.
The musical is based on the 1960 film directed by Roger Corman.
It follows the story of Seymour, a poor young man trying to eke out a living working at cranky Mr. Mushnik's florist shop.
His life changes when he finds a bizarre plant he names Audrey II in honour of his coworker Audrey, with whom he's secretly in love.
As the plant grows, it brings fame and fortune to the shop and to its owner, Seymour. But the plant harbours a nasty secret.
To add to the intrigue and to entice those who already know the plant's secret, the plant Audrey II was purchased from the Dartmouth Players Theatre. Krzyski said the prop will add significantly to the performance.
"People are really looking forward to it. The actors are saying it's going very well, and everything is moving along smoothly," Krzyski said.
"We're saying tickets are available at the door, but we suggest not waiting because a lot of tickets are already being sold in advance."
Krzyski said this is the first time in three years Sackville High students have undertaken a drama or musical production.
The show runs from April 28 to 30 in the school's gymnasium, with a 7 p.m. start time.
Tickets are $10 and can be picked up in advance at Sackville High School.
