Police arrest three with impaired driving

Police arrested three people for impaired operation of a motor vehicles last night and early this morning (July 30).

Last evening (July 29) at 8 p.m., RCMP responded to a complaint of a hit and run on Oceanlea Drive where a vehicle had struck a parked Toyota Matrix. A witness provided a plate number and vehicle description to police.

Within minutes of the hit and run several 911 calls were being received of a brown Grand Prix passing vehicles on the shoulder of Highway 111. HRP officers located the vehicle on Highway 111 and arrested a 34-year-old female for impaired driving. She was released to appear in court at a later date and will be charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor vehicle over 80mgs. The vehicle was seized by RCMP and the investigation into the hit and run is continuing.

At 12:30 a.m. this morning (July 30) RCMP received a 911 call of an impaired driver on St. Margarets Bay Road.  RCMP stopped a 41-year-old female driving a blue Honda and arrested her for impaired driving.  She was released to appear in court at a later date and will be charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor vehicle over 80mgs.

At 1 a.m. RCMP observed a Blue Jeep driving slow and swerving onto the shoulder. The vehicle was stopped on Stokil Drive and a 30-year-old male was arrested for impaired driving.  He was released to appear in court at a later date and will be charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor vehicle over 80mgs.

Through education and enforcement, RCMP and HRP officers are continuing to strive to reduce fatal and serious injury collisions caused by impaired driving.  If you see or suspect an Impaired Driver, call 911.
