Investigation into Correctional Facility Disturbance Complete

Officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP General Investigation Section have completed their investigation into the disturbance at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility which occurred on June 15.

Police were called to the facility at 10 p.m. in relation to a disturbance inside the facility involving an unknown number of inmates. Police were not required to enter the building as staff was able to restore order on their own.

As a result of the investigation, 17 men, ranging in age from 19 to 51, will face charges of mischief. Three of the men face an additional charge of offence related to proclamation. Thirteen of the men have been located and dealt with, and police are looking for the remaining four men who have since been released from custody.
