Nova Scotia Power hoped to have electricity restored to thousands of customers by 9 a.m. this morning after an intense thunder and lightning storm hit the province overnight.

In the metro area, about 333 homes in Bedford/Sackville are still without power, and about 139 in the metro Halifax area.

Traffic signals at four locations in Halifax Regional Municipality have been affected by lightening.

The signal lights at the following intersections are flashing and the intersections should be treated as four way stops:

-- Sackville Drive and Cobequid Road

-- The end of the east bound ramp at Exit 5 and Highway 103

-- Scholars Road and Hammonds Plains Road

-- Hammonds Plains Road and Trunk 3
