Yesterday, July 18 at 5:13 p.m. Halifax Regional Police and EHS responded to a report of a male struck by a Metro Transit bus at the corner of Spring Garden Road and Barrington Street.

The preliminary investigation suggest that a 16-year -old male was attempting to catch the bus which had already pulled away from the bus stop on Barrington Street and then began to turn onto Spring Garden Road.

It appears the pedestrian accidentally ran into the front passenger side of the bus and fell to the ground and the front wheel of the bus drove over his lower body.

Although the investigation is in its early stages it is not expected that charges will be laid.  The teen is in critical condition at the QEII hospital.
