Police arrested two males earlier this morning, Aug. 2, in Eastern Passage shortly after the pair had stolen a pickup truck.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., an RCMP officer was patrolling the Main Road area of Eastern Passage when he came upon two suspicious males with a Ford Ranger pickup truck.  When the officer engaged his emergency equipment to stop them, the males fled.  With the assistance of a Halifax Regional Police Service Dog, the two suspects were located and arrested.  One of the males received a minor injury during the arrest which he was treated for on scene.

The suspects are a 21-year-old male from Eastern Passage and a 22-year-old male from Dartmouth.  Both males were held in custody overnight.  The 21-year-old will be appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court this morning on multiple charges, including Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and Resisting Arrest.

The 22-year-old was released on a Promise to Appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date for charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
