RCMP lay impaired driving charges

RCMP charged a man and a woman in separate incidents involving drunk drivers over the weekend.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., yesterday (Sept. 15), Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault on Church Point Road in Sheet Harbour. When police arrived they attempted to stop a vehicle that was leaving the scene but the vehicle failed to stop for police.

The vehicle was spotted a short time later in Sheet Harbour and a 55-year-old man from Sheet Harbour was arrested without incident. The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Nov. 7 on charges of Assault and Refusing to Provide Breath Samples. 

Shortly after 10 p.m., RCMP responded to complaints from the public of a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 107 outbound. Police located the vehicle on Highway 107 near exit 19. A 43-year-old woman from Dartmouth was taken into custody without incident. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Nov. 7 on charges of Dangerous Driving, Flight From Police, Impaired Driving and Refusal to Provide Breath Samples.
