Nova Scotia’s Natural Resources Department has tranquilized an errant moose in the Fairview area.
The animal had been seen wandering around an area of Highway 102 on Thursday morning.
Wildlife officers were able to tranquilize the moose at about 10 a.m. which had been contained in behind a building at 245 Main Ave. Staff assessed its health, removed it by truck and released it into the wilderness.
The two-and-a-half-year-old bull moose was uninjured. It weighed about 500 lbs. with small antlers.
Officials had been warning motorists to use caution in the area of Dunbrack Street and had asked that people not approach the moose in order to provide it with an escape route. – Metro Halifax with files from The Canadian Press
