HRM citizens are advised work continues on the installation of a new natural gas main through the Armdale Roundabout.

The contractors have completed the pipe installation in the area and are now moving on to site reinstatement.

Due to the availability of some materials, this work cannot be completed at night. The reinstatement will take place on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with unrestricted hours on weekends.

During construction, all approaches to the Roundabout will be reduced to one lane. This is necessary to avoid conflicts where motorists may have to change lanes in the Roundabout as exit lanes are affected by this work. Motorists approaching the circle must yield to all traffic in the circle.

The anticipated construction schedule is as follows: Friday, September 28 – Concrete curb work on Chebucto Road and Herring Cove Road approach and exit lanes. Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7 (if required) – Asphalt work on Chebucto Road at the approach and exit lanes, and Herring Cove Road from the Roundabout to Purcells Cove Road.

The paving on Herring Cove Road will result in traffic being reduced to one lane. This is expected to cause considerable delays in the area on Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible.

Work continues on a new natural gas main through the Armdale Roundabout toward Regatta Point. Pipe installation on Purcells Cove Road from Herring Cove Road to Spinnaker Drive will require traffic to be reduced to one lane. This work is restricted to weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This section is currently under construction and is expected to continue until Thursday, October 4.

Throughout the remainder of the project – Purcells Cove Road from Spinnaker Drive to Anchor Drive – two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times.
