Man breaks into Bedford home while resident inside

Halifax Regional Police are currently investigating a break and enter that took place earlier today, Oct. 18, in Bedford.

Shortly before 2 p.m., a man knocked several times at the front door of a home on Granville Road. When he received no answer at the door, he broke into the residence. Unbeknownst to the suspect, a resident was inside. The resident was able to lock themself in a room and call 911 while the suspect roamed the home. When the suspect noticed the resident, he fled on foot toward Highway 102. A search of the area failed to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early twenties, five-foot-eight, with long dark hair and a scruffy beard, wearing a black sweater and baggy jeans. Police believe the suspect left in an awaiting vehicle parked on Highway 102, heading northbound towards Lower Sackville.
