Police continue to investigate murder of Donald Smith

Today, Oct. 23, is the second anniversary of the murder of Donald Smith and the Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the case.

On Oct. 23, 2010, at approximately 9:25 p.m., 27-year-old Donald Chad Smith of Windsor Junction was shot while making a pizza delivery to a building on Joseph Young Street in Dartmouth. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators have determined that the call to the pizza shop was placed from a payphone on Highfield Park Drive, between Joseph Young Street and Burnside Drive at approximately 8:45 p.m. The individual who placed the order has not been identified and investigators are interested in speaking with this person.

Investigators in the HRP/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit do not believe this was a random act and are asking the public to come forward with information about the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637.
