Police have charged a male and female from Eastern Passage with firearm and drug charges.
Yesterday morning, Oct. 25, at 10:17 a.m., the Integrated Guns and Gangs Unit, with assistance from the Combined Forces Intelligence Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Birchill Drive in Eastern Passage. Police seized a handgun, an assault rifle and over 500 rounds ammunition. Officers also seized a quantity of drugs, cash, and other drug paraphernalia. A male and a female were arrested without incident.
A 28-year-old male and a 26-year-old female, both from Eastern Passage, are facing the following Criminal Code charges: Unsafe Storage of a Firearm Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition Readily Available Possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime Tampering with a Serial Number
The suspects are also facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court this morning.
