This morning, Jan. 17, at 12:48 a.m., Halifax police officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Breeze Drive in Dartmouth. Witnesses stated that a male party operating a black Honda Civic lost control of his vehicle, struck a light pole, then fled the area on foot.
It was quickly determined that the vehicle had been stolen from the Tantallon area on Jan. 10. Responding patrol officers set up containment in the area while a K9 officer began a track.
Approximately 22 minutes later the search came to a succcessful end on Avenue Du Portage with the arrest of a 22-year-old male from the Pockwock area.
The suspect is facing a number of criminal charges which include Possession of Stolen Property, Impaired Driving and three counts of Breach of Undertakings. The suspect will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court this morning.
