A man is facing numerous charges after threatening a man with a knife earlier today, Jan. 23, in Halifax.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of Barrington Street and Spring Garden Road after a 45-year-old man was threatened by another man. The victim was walking in the area when he was confronted by the suspect who wielded a knife and asked him if he wanted to die. The victim was not injured, fled the area and called police. Officers arrested the suspect without incident at the intersection of Spring Garden Road and Birmingham Street and recovered a knife from him.

Twenty-six-year-old Preston Lynden Denny of Halifax faces charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, assault with a weapon, uttering death threats and numerous breaches of court orders. He was held overnight and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
