Halifax police are investigating an odd incident involving a fake handgun.

Police say a 62-year-old Dartmouth man managed to disarm a would-be thief when the victim realized the handgun pointed at him was phoney.

The assailant with the bogus weapon was one of five people who barged into the victim’s Kennedy Drive apartment at 8:30 p.m.

The group included two females and three males.

After a brief struggle, the victim grabbed the gun and the suspects fled the scene.

Police later arrested one of the female suspects, who is known to the victim. — CP
