Police investigate late-night robbery in downtown Dartmouth

Police are investigating a robbery which occurred Jan. 26 in Dartmouth.

At midnight, a 34-year-old woman was robbed after stepping out of the Celtic Corner bar located at 69 Alderney Drive. The victim left the bar to have a cigarette in a nearby alley where she was approached by a man who was also smoking. The man attempted to pin her against the wall to take her property. The victim fought off the suspect but was punched in the face in the process. The suspect took jewellery from the victim and fled the area on foot. The victim didn’t suffer injuries and she reported the incident to police on Jan. 27.

The suspect is described as a black man, 5’10”, wearing a black hooded winter jacket. Officers are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact police at 490-5016. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to274637.
