Police continue to investigate the murder of Derek Alan Lowe

Today is the 25th anniversary of the murder of Derek Alan Lowe and the Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the case.

On January 28, 1988, at 7:20 a.m., police responded to a report that a citizen walking on a pathway at Maybank Sport Field in Dartmouth found an unresponsive man. Officers determined that the man was deceased and had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Derek Alan Lowe. The investigation revealed that Derek was last seen in the evening of January 27, 1988 inside a bar in the north end of Dartmouth.

Anyone with information about this unsolved homicide is asked to contact the Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Integrated Major Crime Unit at (902) 490-5333. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or texting a tip - Tip 202 + your message to 274637. This case is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.
