Teen facing car theft charges in Dartmouth

At about 1:30 a.m. today, Feb. 4, Halifax Regional Police observed a car backed into a building on Gloria McClusky Drive in Burnside Industrial Park. Officers pulled into the lot to check the vehicle and it sped away with no lights on. The vehicle was spotted again on Burnside Drive and officers followed it to Main Street.

When they attempted to pull it over driver refused and fled. The vehicle was pursued by Halifax Regional Police and RCMP to Porters Lake and then back toward Dartmouth on the old #7 Highway. Stop sticks were deployed and the vehicle was disabled.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old male from Dartmouth will be in court later today to face numerous charges, including theft and possession of a vehicle, flight from police, several breach charges and possession of break in tools.
