At 11:53 p.m. last night, Feb. 4, Halifax Regional Police responded to the area of 0-100 Main Avenue in Fairview for a report of a taxi driver who had been robbed at knifepoint. The suspect was picked up on Dutch Village Road and when they got to Main Avenue he produced a knife and took money from the taxi driver. He then fled on foot.
Patrol officers set up containment and a K9 unit was deployed. The K9 officer tracked the suspect for about 30 minutes and he was eventually located and taken into custody.
The suspect, a 37-year-old male from Halifax will be incourt today to face robbery and weapons charges from that robbery as well as robbery and weapons charges from an earlier incident.
