The province's Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) laid charges against a four-year member of the Halifax Regional Police yesterday, Feb. 6.
Const. Chris Mosher, 29, is charged with sexual assault and administering a noxious thing with intent to aggrieve. The charges stem from incidents on Nov. 2 and 3.
In early November, SIRT received a complaint from a female alleging that a male police officer sexually assaulted her. The two knew each other, and the incident is alleged to have occurred in the home of the accused. At that time, SIRT began the investigation that led to the charges.
Mosher is due to appear in provincial court on Feb. 13. He was arrested in relation to the investigation on Dec. 11 and released on conditions.
A public report summarizing the results of the investigation must be filed within three months after it is finished.
