Premier Darrell Dexter, today, March 15, announced ministerial changes in the NDP government.
Deputy Premier Frank Corbett will become Minister of Labour and Advanced Education and Minister responsible for Immigration. He will remain chair of Treasury Board.
"With great economic opportunity on the horizon, we need to make sure Nova Scotians, and new Nova Scotians, have the skills and training needed for good jobs," said Dexter. "The deputy premier will make this a top priority in his new portfolio, ensuring that the benefits of economic development are felt throughout the province."
Marilyn More will take over as Minister of the Public Service Commission, Communications Nova Scotia, the Voluntary Sector, and Status of Women. She has informed the premier that she will not run in the next provincial election.
"I want to thank Marilyn for her years of service, for her commitment to Nova Scotians, to the advancement of women, and to education and learning," said Dexter. "She remains a great asset to Cabinet, so I have asked her to stay on in this new capacity to maintain solid leadership of the public service and her new portfolio."
Changes to Executive Council are effective immediately.
