Rockingham-Wentworth Coun. Debbie Hum has officially announced she is not going to re-offer for District 16 in the upcoming Oct. 20 municipal election.

"I've given this a great deal of thought and personal reflection, particularly over the last month. It hasn't been an easy decision, but it is the right decision," Hum said in a news release.

"I'm incredibly honoured and privileged to have been given the opportunity to represent residents on council for the last nine years. I never thought of myself as a politician, but rather, someone dedicated to public service. I feel it is the right time to move on and seek other new, exciting opportunities and challenges," she said.

This is disappointing. The area will really miss Debbie and her input. Best of luck in your future endeavours, but many of us are really sad to see you go.
