With advanced polls for the upcoming municipal election getting underway next week, The Bedford-Sackville Weekly News is offering voters a snapshot of candidates running in your district.

Voters can cast an electronic or phone ballot during the advanced voting period anywhere, anytime starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 and ending 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18. Alternatively, voters can vote in person on Election Day, Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 (paper ballots only) from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

District 1 Waverley, Fall River and Musquodoboit

Name: Barry Dalrymple

Age: 59

Why should I vote for you? I kept my promise last time. No one works harder.

Name one great thing in your district: The building of the $7 million Beaver Bank Kinsac Community Centre without one cent of it being put on the backs of residents through an area rate.

Name something in your district that could be improved upon: Transit and sidewalks

Age: 49

Why should I vote for you? I bring 13 years experience. I believe in an open and transparent government.

Name one great thing in your district: The best of all worlds urban, suburban and rural.

Name something in your district that could be improved upon: Better planning, traffic, water, sidewalks

District 13 Hammonds Plains and St. Margarets

Why should I vote for you? I get solutions to difficult situations.

Name something in your district that could be improved upon: Accountability on tax dollars being spent.

Why should I vote for you? I am the best candidate between the other two gentlemen.

Name something in your district that could be improved upon: The big three: Hammonds Plains Road, property taxes and public transportation.

Why should I vote for you? I bring new ideas and perspectives and common sense.

Name one great thing in your district: The amount of people that care enough about their community to make a difference.

Name something in your district that could be improved upon: Transit, and it seems as though District 14 is not being respected enough in the greater HRM.

Why should I vote for you? I will finish a task. Enjoy working with people.

Name one great thing in your district: The diversity and different cultures in our area.

Name something in your district that could be improved upon: Communications. Keeping everyone informed and ‘in the know.'
