The 2010 Eastern Canadian Biathlon Championships is the first ever
biathlon event to be hosted in Nova Scotia. Roughly 55 competitors of
all ages are expected at the competition, which will serve as the
official biathlon test event for the 2011 Canada Winter Games.
"This year's Eastern Canadian Biathlon Championships represent an
important step towards the 2011 Canada Winter Games," says Murray Wylie,
President of Biathlon Nova Scotia. "We're excited to host this event in
the new facility and looking forward to an action-packed weekend."
Biathlon is an exciting and challenging Olympic sport that combines
cross country skiing and marksmanship. Biathlon Nova Scotia is raising
the awareness of the sport in the province, and the addition of the new
facility will ensure a vibrant program for its athletes in the years to
come.
